The Iowa Farmer’s Wife always brings us puppy chow at
Christmas. This year we decided to make it before Thanksgiving. The Farmer
doesn’t love chocolate like we all do, so we switched it to butterscotch puppy
chow.
What you’ll need:
½ stick of Butter
1 bag of Butterscotch chips
½ cup Peanut butter
½ tsp vanilla
8 cups Rice Chex or Crispix(the Crispix box actually has the
recipe for puppy chow on the box)
2-3 cups Powdered Sugar
Pour the 8 cups of cereal into a large bowl. In a gallon
baggie pour the powdered sugar (you may need to use 2 baggies) Melt the butter,
chips, and peanut butter in the microwave or on the stovetop until a smooth
consistency (microwave is much faster and easier to keep it from burning). Stir
in the vanilla. Pour the melted mix over the cereal and stir until covered. Be
carful its hot! Once the cereal is well coated, pour into the bag of powdered
sugar. MAKE SURE IT IS SEALED!! and Shake it like a polaroid picture!
This is the story of my life…
